Cathy Pierce, DVM

Medical Director

Dr. Cathy Pierce developed a passion for veterinary medicine at the age of 13 when she earned school credit by volunteering at an animal hospital in rural Oregon helping with dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, or anything else that walked in. She continued to work a variety of hospital positions from kennel attendant, receptionist, and emergency technician assistant throughout high school, college, and during her veterinary education. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in biology from Montana State University in Billings, followed by her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. After graduation, she spent eight years practicing emergency and critical care medicine and surgery at hospitals in Tacoma, Las Vegas, and Issaquah. After eight years of overnights in the ICU, she wanted to strengthen her skills to support pets long-term via preventive medicine and wellness. She spent five years in Redmond at a general practice taking care of pets in all life stages, as well as managing the practice as medical director. She enjoyed working with families to provide high quality, individualized care, but saw how much urgent care for pets was lacking, especially after the pandemic. She witnessed and experienced the toll this was taking on pets, their families, and her colleagues that so badly wanted to help but struggled to keep up.

Dr. Pierce was thrilled with the opportunity of a brand new urgent care practice and was excited to help fill this niche in patient care. With thirteen years of emergency and general practice experience, she can provide top care for all types of urgent care needs including ear infections, chronic skin conditions, surgical repair of wounds, acute GI distress, and pain management. She takes a special interest in endocrine diseases such as diabetes mellitus and autoimmune diseases such as hemolytic anemia.

She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, and International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. Outside of work, Dr. Pierce can be found rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, and managing the many projects of a small homestead including gardening, canning, and raising chickens. She and her husband currently have one dog, Oscar, a bossy Cairn Terrier, as well as a flock of Jersey Giant chickens, a leopard gecko, and a tropical freshwater fish tank.
