L&L Animal Urgent Care: Helping Pets in Need

L&L Animal Urgent Care is the latest addition to Kirkland's animal care industry, opening its doors to the community's furry friends on March 25th of this year. Our state-of-the-art facility caters to animal emergency needs and is equipped with cutting-edge technology. We have an amazing team of experienced and compassionate veterinarians. Our mission is to deliver exceptional care to animals, no matter their size or species.
In this blog, we'd like to highlight some of the patients we've successfully treated in our first month of operation. While we've treated several cases of feline and canine pancreatitis, raccoon bite wounds, and dog fight wounds, we want to emphasize these patients to showcase our dedication and commitment to providing all animals that walk through our doors with reliable and timely top-notch emergency care.
Our First Patients
L&L Animal Urgent Care’s very first patient was a 12-year-old Klee Kai mix that had a swollen eye for a couple of days. She was displaying indications of pain, with her whole globe expanding and her third eyelid rising due to excessive swelling, but the owner was unaware of any known scratches or irritations. Both the owner and the patient felt considerably better when we finished our sedation oral examination and discovered a retrobulbar mucocele of the zygomatic arch salivary gland, from which we obtained samples to be tested further to rule out any symptoms of cancer. Our furry friend was able to return home to his loving family, relieved of his discomfort.
Sometime after that, L&L Animal Urgent Care helped a 10-year-old male cat that was struggling to urinate. He was wailing in pain, struggling to urinate, and unable to create a urine stream, according to the owner. We started by using in-house lab testing to examine his metabolic condition, kidneys, and electrolytes, and then we took abdominal radiographs to rule out urethral stones. When all of his tests came back normal, we were able to flush out his partly clogged urethra and send him home once he began to pee on his own.
Working with Qualified Professionals
Another patient that L&L Animal Urgent Care assisted was a 7-year-old German Shepherd that presented with severe swelling and non-weight bearing on her right front leg. We began with sedated radiographs of the leg, which we submitted to Vets Choice Radiology to be examined by a qualified radiologist. The radiologist's report arrived within 20 minutes, allowing us to understand promptly that the right ulna had a comminuted fracture, but the radius was still intact. Following a surgical consultation with ASCS, it was determined that the best course of therapy for this patient was to create a personalized splint out of casting tape. We discharged the patient with tight exercise restrictions, anti-inflammatories, and oral sedatives, as well as a thorough plan for the owner to follow up with their usual veterinarian.
Caring and Compassionate Care for All Pets
Unfortunately, there were also two cases of humane euthanasia. Their owners called us because their normal vets were unable to see them right away, and they thought their dogs couldn't wait. While it’s never an easy decision to make, the team at L&L Animal Urgent Care provided caring and compassionate support to the pets and their owners during this challenging time.
